So I just up and wanted to make a monocolored set. So far, the set only has black, and since I'm practicing to imitate how Wizard organize their sets, it has a bunch of mundane-ish stuff that only loosely relates to the set's general theme. I also haven't started to go wild with new keywords yet :V

The black portion of the set is my attempt to recreate an infect set that is somewhat viable in monocolor and is sufficiently balanced with a balance between creatures and control, instead of the rush-people-really-fast-and-abuse-low-game-over-threshold you'd see in most infect decks. I also tried to make it reflect my view of the color black in MtG: versatile, jack of all trades, and can adopt a heavier slant towards a specific strategy as long as you can balance the occasional heavy costs that sometimes black cards sometimes have. In this set, the costs are mostly putting poison counters and -1/-1 counters on yourself and your own creatures in exchange for mana, keeping enemy army in check, keeping your army alive, etc. Only part of the black portion of the set actually has infect/poison counters, and it can do either poison or normal damage, so it is up to you to balance the scale between poison, longevity and control.

I think the black portion as is is more or less close to completion. Any remaining gaps should be filled in later by the last several cards I'll add in, by other colors of the set, and probably by later set if I do this well enough to warrant continuing it into a block.

Also yeah it has no art, that kind of happens when you're trying to do something original and have no art skills at all :V

I like the planeswalker, although it lacks this flavor of unfair play black is known for (What about adding "Whenever you get a Poisoncounter, put a Poisoncounter on target opponent" to the emblem?^^).

By the way, do you need some help with the artwork? I may have some time to make one or two.

Hmmm...if I do that, then I'd have to completely rework or replace Soul Corruption, otherwise that'd make an instawin.

Also I don't know about giving a black planeswalker with limited control capabilities a powerful ultimate. That'd require me to bump up the cost for it, and a black deck might not have the defense to protect the planeswalker for that long, especially against burn.

As for the artwork, you can volunteer if you want; I'm in the middle of preparing for college stuff right now and don't know if I'll commit a lot to making sets yet.

I used Magic Set Editor http://magicsetedito...t/download.html

It's handy, and you can use any card template on it (even double-sided!) as long as you know how to make a template or get it off someone. I don't remember if it comes with the planeswalker template, so you might need to dig around in the Additional Templates section to find it.
