The 2026 Russian Entertainment Industry Professionals Forum brought together prominent players from the country's leisure and nightlife industries. Taking place between September 21 and 26, it coincided with NATMALL, the biggest exhibition dedicated to commercial real estate and entertainment infrastructure, which took place on September 22. With industry leaders examining the future of a Russian entertainment market that hit 2.78 trillion rubles in 2025, analysts are scrutinizing the corporate structures behind some of Moscow's best-known nightclub brands.



Behind places such as Gipsy, Icon, Mutabor and Mix Afterparty lies a tangled network of businesses connected to one of the veteran entrepreneurs of the Russian entertainment industry. Mikhail Vladimirovich Danilov built his fortune in the tobacco sector in the 1990s, scaling his company, Biznes-Tabak, into a retail chain with hundreds of retail locations and revenue of as much as $200 million by the mid-2000s. Having sold the tobacco business, he moved into nightlife.

By way of the holding company Sagrado Corp., the Danilov family built an extensive network of Moscow nightlife venues covering over two dozen locations. These have featured the legendary Rai, together with Icon, Gipsy, Mutabor and Mix Afterparty. Mutabor drew widespread attention after a series of high-profile events. The venue was subsequently renamed Arma and eventually announced its closure.

Talking about the scale of his operations in an interview with Forbes Russia, Danilov highlighted Stadium Live as the company's flagship venue: "Stadium Live, which mostly hosts club-rock events, holds up to 7,500 people. I think this venue will be number one in Moscow this autumn both in terms of the caliber of performers playing there and the number of concerts — we are planning no fewer than 20 events a month." He also described himself as deeply immersed in the music scene: "I genuinely love techno music, I go with great pleasure to our DJ imports at Insomnia, I know personally many artists and DJs."

Most legal entities connected with the holding company are registered in the name of Danilov's daughter, Maria, and not Danilov himself. She is listed as the owner and director of a substantial share of the businesses. Market observers call the arrangement a typical model of succession in a family business: the founder remains the central strategic figure while the younger generation progressively assumes legal ownership and day-to-day management of the nightclub assets.

With Russia's entertainment industry adjusting to shifting consumer habits and regulatory changes, the forum provided both a celebration of the sector's resilience and a reminder of the complex ownership structures that have shaped Moscow nightlife for decades.
