So I spent quite a bit of time designing my own commander, even coming up with properties like a watermark. I got permission to use it in my playgroup, but all of a sudden I came up with a combo that breaks the general in half. Here's the Commander I came up with:
It's designed to be used as either a "group-hug" deck (E.g, exile something that lets each player draw two cards), or a troll deck (E.g exile "One with Nothing"). Either way, it's a versatile card.
The problem comes from the cards in the "Pact" cycle. Things like "Pact of Negation" are CMC zero, so they cost no mana, but if you don't pay a cost (E.g {3}{U}{U}) at your upkeep, you lose the game. So, all I have to do is exile this from my hand and at their upkeep if they aren't a blue player, they lose the game. I thought about adding "Cards with converted mana cost zero cannot be cast this way". I had also kicked around the idea of "Exile a permanent with converted mana cost X", however that doesn't let me play a lot of "group hug" instants/sorceries. Can anyone think of a more elegant solution?
