Coalesc is a plane consisting of mostly water and its residents. Very few landmasses exist, though their occupants are content with this. The plane is ruled by the kindhearted god Janai [[Janai, Thought Ruler]], a massive Leviathan who dwells in the deepest oceans and assists sailors of the plane in rough weather. However, he yearns to explore new worlds among the Multiverse, envying the planeswalkers who visit his home.
Nicol Bolas, the elder dragon planeswalker, visits the plane [[Planar Visitor]] and becomes interested in its ruler, Janai. He sees a latent spark in the Leviathan God, and offers to ignite his spark for him in exchange for rule of Coalesc. Janai, hesitantly and unaware of any bad intentions Bolas may have, agrees, and Bolas swiftly murders the god, igniting his spark [[Janai, Planeswalker]].
After gaining control of the plane, Bolas [[Nicol Bolas, New Ruler]] lowers the sea level, making more land for his unknown plans to take effect on [[Retracting Tides]]. The worlds becomes overseen by Bolas' avatars, Leviathans who came from the seas of Coalesc.
Kels was left to protect the now larger landmasses of Coalesc [[Kels, Coalesc's Shores]]. Kire was charged with creating new landmasses with its control of volcanic activity in the plane [[Kire, Coalesc's Furies]]. Kold became the lord of death on the plane, commanding the dead to his aid in the darkest parts of the new lessened oceans [[Kold, Coalesc's Depths]]. Kreii became master of life in the plane, worshipped by the merfolk of Coalesc [[Kreii, Coalesc's Salvation]].
(At some point in the story, Bolas' plans are made apparent, and with the help of Kreii, a merfolk planeswalker named Julias confronts him. What this plan is, I haven't decided yet.)
